The beautiful Defereggental valley is a fantastic destination for a relaxed and reenergizing holiday in the fresh mountain air of the Tyrolean Alps. Explore the largest stone pine forest of the Eastern Alps, and the marvellous alpine pastures. You can probably enjoy some fresh milk, buttermilk and cheese there, directly from the farmer. With more than 300 km of marked trails, you can hike in one of the most spectacular hiking regions with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
St. Jakob in the Defereggental is located between the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Riesenferner mountain range. Marvel at the 50 mountain peaks which tower from above at more than 3.000 metres above sea-level in our East-Tyrolean village.
The Zollwirt guesthouse is a partner company to the National Park Hohe Tauern, which is a fantastic area for hiking and spending time in the well-maintained and pristine nature.

Hiking in the Defereggental

A special highlight during summer is the period when the majestic alpine rose is in bloom and the glorious red flowers can be found on the alpine meadows.
Tip: You can take the gondola from St. Jakob and enjoy the lovely hiking region Brunnalm in a more relaxed fashion.
